2011 Sale Report

A crowd of about 50 people attended the annual Back Creek Sale, with about 20 registered buyers, from southern Queensland and northern NSW. A near total clearance of rams at Glenall sold to $2500 and averaged $972.00.

The vendor was extremely pleased that 87% of rams sold to repeat buyers with a number of rams going to buyers at Goondiwindi, Mitchell, Roma and Cecil Plains in Queensland. Robbie Deans who has been buying Back Creek Rams since 2001 was unable to attend, but phone bid to secure 2 rams.

Scott Arthur from Roma secured 7 rams for his lamb operation to average $942 for his draft. Don & Kim Noon from Mitchell purchased 1 ram for $1900 to use in their ram breeding operation. Mike and Ann Noon purchased 3 rams with Chris Bloomfield from Cecil Plains, who bought rams 3 years ago, returning to purchase 4 rams.

Northern NSW buyers included Clive and Wendy Hassellman from Delungra who put together a draft of 4 rams to average $1275.00. Richard and Judy Makim from Moredun, near Glen Innes, purchased 7 rams, with Dominic & Berlinda Makim from Barraba purchasing 4 rams. 12 rams also went into the pastoral areas near Brewarrina.

A new buyer included Leslie Archer's Blackhill's Pastoral Company, from Guyra, who purchased 4 rams to use on her prime lamb operation.

Buyers were very pleased using the Helmsman auction system, with phone bidding in place for those unable to attend the sale.

The next annual sale will be held on the 3rd Friday in October 2012.
