Back Creek White Dorper stud operates on our properties “Glenall” in the Rocky Creek Valley west of Bingara and “Mundiwa” west of Brewarrina in North West NSW.
Stud principles are Will and Linda Cannington and Flora Keats. Will manages "Glenall" where the main stud is based, with Bill Kirkby managing “Mundiwa” where a commercial operation is run.
"Glenall" is 5000 acres and is primarily used for grazing with an annual rainfall of 800mm. 400 stud ewes are currently run in conjunction with a beef cattle herd of 500 breeders, producing for the feeder steer market.
"Mundiwa" comprises 48,000 acres and has an annual rainfall of 350mm. It is also primarily a grazing property, running the commercial lamb operation and cattle on an opportunistic basis.
We currently run approximately 3,500 ewes on "Mundiwa" but we aim to build the flock to around 6,000 over the next few years. We also intend establishing a stud group in order to breed rams in our western division.
Our annual ram sale is held on the 3rd Friday in October (Oct, 19, 2012) and sells between 60-80 stud and commercial rams. Flock rams by paddock sale are available after this date through until autumn, while available. Stud ewes are available throughout the year by private treaty.
